New EP and full length

This month saw the release of a new EP with a UK-based metal project called Horasan, as well as a full length release with Brazilian blackened death metal band Brutta. New album: ‘Athemon’

‘Athemon’ is a project that came out of nowhere (or, more specifically, Sao Paolo, Brazil). At the beginning of global lockdown in 2020, a guitarist called Adriano Ribeiro got in touch to share with me his demo for an album project. I was immediately struck by the clarity and originality of his creative vision (and his excellent and evil guitar tone!). Luckily for me, he needed a collaborator to help complete the sound. I’m equally proud of my bass recording and production work on this album, and I highly recommend it to any fans of Opeth, Nevermore, Pain of Salvation, Mastodon and Gojira.

New music: THEO - “Figureheads”

A little while back, keyboardist Jim Alfredson kindly asked me to record some guitars on a couple of tracks for his new THEO album. My playing is featured throughout the tracks “Pathology” and “Portents & Providence”. I’m pleased to say the fruits of our labours will soon be revealed to the world. The official release date is 29th September through Generation Prog Records.

I really enjoyed contributing to this album, where I got the chance to take off my ‘heavy metal hat’ and play in a wide variety of styles that I haven’t previously recorded (there’s even some hillbilly style chicken picking in there somewhere). The standard of musicianship of the other players (not least Jim, of course) is excellent. I highly recommend it to fans of vintage prog and classic analog synth sounds :)
